War Z opening sequence analysis - Post Apocalypse Genre
Having just music for the first 10 seconds sets the scene and sets the atmosphere for the audience before they start seeing pictures, being dramatic before the audience even sees anything, this is affective, the tune of it gets increasingly more dramatic adding in more sounds which gives more of an idea of being tense, especial at the end when different scores of music are added in and everything becomes faster and more dramatic.
Along with this the news reports go along with the style of starting off almost happy and less tense but become increasingly more dramatic. The first news report starting off being "a great show in store for you all"and the everything becomes more fast and important and the information starts being about death tolls and scary stuff.
The pictures shown start of sequence are scenic views of the skye and the sea, this also changes along with the music and the news reports. The cuts become quicker, and the shots are instead of being harmless, turn into videos of animals hurting each other and dramatic news repots.
The whole opening sequence starts off calm even with the music being slightly tence and gradually gets quicker and more dramatic, this is an affective way of opening a film for the audience and it helps their expectation but at the same time as everything is quick and starts to give a sense of urgency it also masks whats going on slightly which helps the idea of a urgency emergency post apocalypse feel.
